Swarovski work with leading designers from the fashion world including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Marios Schwab... They needed a website for their Corporate Communications unit in London to communicate with the press and unveil their creative work to fashion enthusiasts.
Fashion is all about the visual. Pretty obvious, huh? But balance the need to have something that looks beautiful, with the need to showcase literally thousands of images, whilst ensuring that it is search engine optimised and flexible enough to deal with daily-changing information, you probably need to speak to someone who knows what they're doing.
Fashion editors are time poor and not necessarily technically literate. A good picture can be the difference between getting press coverage and getting none in this world
We built Swarovski a site that was totally flexible. Navigation changed constantly and the system we built allowed them to add to or change it at the push of a button.
Images were shown as a slideshow with descriptions of the pieces and the designers. Press contacts needed to get a username and password to access the high res images, but these could all be easily downloaded from the site.
The design was also flexible enough to break the template for special events, such as the Swarovski Fashion Rocks show, where we showed a video featuring Naomi Campbell wearing Swarovski crystals.
Since 2006, thanks to a flexible design and a comprehensive content management system, our client was able to showcase a huge amount of information and photographs of Swarovski products. This also meant that fashion editors gathered all their press assets in one place making their lives easier when looking for imagery and press releases.
Through the site Swarovski have been able to easily share but still control the use of their high resolution photographs by placing them in a private section of the site where only registered users can download and use the materials.
The site had an increase of 930% in traffic since launch. During fashion shows the site coped effortlessly with the high-traffic allowing a perfect user experience.
Recently, Swarovski took a new direction and gathered all their numerous worldwide websites into one portal. The Swarovski Sparkles website has therefore been brought into that giant portal and is no longer available to the public.
