What do you do with a back catalogue of film interviews with some of the planet's top authors? Come to an agency at the cutting edge of online video technology and show the World, of course. This is exactly what we have enabled Meet the Author to do with the work we have done for them over the past three years.
Insight:
I don't know whether you knew, but we've been at the forefront of the development of Red5, an open source flash technology that supports the streaming and recording of audio and video. That means you can record yourself from your webcam or upload any video file and within seconds it is playing to the world in a snazzy little Flash player. It is pretty cool really – just ask Facebook; they have started using the same technology for their own video application.
Solution:
The first Meet the Author site was born back in the day when RealPlayer & Windows media ruled. Clips of authors talking about their work are streamed through an effective and elegant site (even if we do say so ourselves). We did some pretty nifty Search Engine Optimisation too which saw Meet the Author's traffic increase over 2,000% in six months with no additional Pay-Per-Click activity.
Fast forward to the present day and Flash is the king of video streaming. The last few months have seen us launch MtA's sister sites, Author's Lounge & Marketplace, both using our Red5 and Flash expertise. So if you want to hear your favourite author’s take on life or have a book in you that is desperate to get out then grab some popcorn or a webcam and prepare for immediate gratification.
